Be Like a Glass of Water

My lecturer for Popular Writing previously gave us an interesting mission for our Mid-term Take Home Assignment. He sent a picture that contains a glass of water and challenged us to write our thoughts on that picture. My classmates surely had catchy ideas, but I thought that I wanna try to write one inspirational essay since I never did one before. There, my very first 300-words essay that (hopefully) will motivate you. Enjoy!

As long as humans live, we will always ensure to develop ourselves. The process of human development can not be seen only from their physical transformation, but it can also be seen from their thinking process. Human brains start to develop at the age of 18 when they had reached adolescence level. Sandra Aamodt, an expert who focuses on the human brain and its development, stated that teenagers’ brains is started to become highly active and become more curious until the age of 25. To conclude, young-adulthoods will seek for new adventures in order to shape themselves.

One of the examples is they tend to find inspiration in anyone else they adore. It could be from famous people, or simply from their close people. I once remember a quote from Lao Tzu, “If you want to become full, let yourself be empty”. Bob Sadino, a wise businessman ever said that if we want to learn something new, we should be like a glass of water that needs to be fully-filled. Those wise sayings had become my guidance in life. I believe that these quotes would also change your way of thinking.

These quotes contain many interpretations such as we will acquire new knowledge from different perspectives if we personalize us as an empty glass. We should create this mindset as our new habit so that sooner or later, it will adjust us to become a humble person. However, we should always filter new knowledge and experiences that we receive so that our glass will only accommodate good quality of ‘water’. Even so, it requires a strong intention to change our old habit into this subtle habit. Bob Sadino continues this habit until his last breath and it successfully bring him into sustainable affluence. So, let’s become a glass, shall we?
