Good Afternoon, fellas!

p.s the only one who is ready to take a picture is me.
Proudly present, my team mate in Organizing Committee!

I want to tell you a story of being a member of an organization named AIESEC. Probably some of you had discovered what AIESEC is. I must say that I am proud being one of their member. I got so many experiences when I became an AIESECer.

((What is AIESEC, actually?))

"AIESEC is the world's largest non-profit youth-run organization. It is an international non-governmental not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. The organization focuses on empowering young people to make a positive impact on society. The AIESEC network includes approximately 27,000 members in 127 countries." (God, thanks Wikipedia).

Since I got elected as a staff of Global Volunteer Marketing, I got bunch of self-developments and I learnt about being professional in a team work.

But I won't stop there, I want to earn more important things that I don't get before in my first year in this organization. I believe that all those sleepless night will be a helpful little step to my next journey.

In my next two quarters as an AIESECer, I decided to take double roles as an Organizing Committee (or previously I mentioned it as 'OC'). Organizing Committee is a committee that will hold a project that made by AIESEC. It consists one OC President, one OC Finance, one OC Logistics, one OC Brand Design, one OC Program, one OC Delegates Service (or two if needed), and one OC Marketing and Communication. I took OC Mar&Com role but honestly, I didn't understand what is my main jobdesk, what should I do, or even what is that project would be.

I prepared my booklet (a powerpoint consists of some questions about myself, general questions and project questions) and sent it to the OC President after the deadline date, yet he still interviewed me and I got elected on the next day. (Sending a lot of love to my OC President, thank you for trusting me!)

After I got elected and I met my new team member, finally, I understood what my main jobdesks are. I don't want to speifically mention them but I learnt that my jobdesks are important to the project.

Sorry, I forget to explain what is my project.

If some of you want to join an organization, you have to pass the selection and complete some requirements, so does this organization. All those the selection phases compiled into one project named #JoinAIESEC. AIESEC held this selection phase annually, in 4 months period, therefore, they need some people that will take care of this project). There are some phases:

1. Info Session

2. Activation Day

3. Focus Group Discussion and Interview

4. Welcoming Party

5. Probation

6. Semarang Youth Conference

(I don't want to spend your time explaining this because the project is soooo complicated, let's dive deeper: bit.ly/BookletJoinAIESEC2018. Thanks OC Brand&Design for this amazing booklet).

Since the first step is Info Session which means I should open some information booths before the enrollment is opened, I searched some potential booths in UNDIP. I made some marketing research too before I gave the project proposal to companies. In fine, we got 700+ applicants from the Info Session step. Honestly, I felt tired at that time because there was no OC Logistics yet, but we managed it somehow. I got a little fight with my team mate, but I remembered one of my friend said that a solid team will not be formed if there is no fight at all".

The next step after Info Session is Activation Day. Activation Day is a mini-seminar that presented what is AIESEC and how it works.

A week before the Activation Day, I came back to Cikarang because I had to manage things in my hometown. In that time, I had contacted Emina and Moretrash as the project's sponsors. A day before the Activation Day, I took part in futsal competition against other major in my faculty, so I can not help them to prepare the venue for Activation Day.

Activation Day was held in 5th floor of ICT Centre UNDIP. Fyi, the ballroom costed only IDR 800.000 per day but it has a lot of function. Delegates who came to the Activation Day were approximately 350 and they got souvenirs from attending the event. The souvenirs were notebook, pen, wristband and snacks. The key speakers of the event were AIESECer too. They explained about their experiences of being AIESECer, what did thy get from being AIESECer, and gave some tips to the delegates. That day, we were tired and full because we brougt so many leftover snacks.

The week after Activation Day was Focus Group Discussion step. I did not attend the FGD step because I complied my major's gathering in Bandungan. Basically, Focus Group Discussion is a group discussion consists with 5-6 people and assesed by 3 AIESECer to appraise the quality of the delegates. FGD step selecting 200 delegates out of 350.

Interview step is more personal because the delegates being interviewed in the course of an hour. They were asked about their motivation, their passion, and they should do the role-play to reassure the assessor. This step selecting the lucky 115 delegates out of 200.

Next, after those painful steps, those 'unofficial' delegates being welcomed by a transition period from being unofficial member to official member called Probation and they were being welcomed by Welcoming Party. This party was held in What's Up Cafe, Jatingaleh. They got so much checklists to do. After Probation period, they were official members of AIESEC UNDIP.

Honestly, being an OC is not easy. I stil have one painful step to end this event, Semarang Youth Conference, that will be held in three days. I had argue with my team mates, got demotivationed, and sometimes I got tired of these tiring steps. However, I believe by being an OC, I will become a better person than I was before. I got so much experiences from being an OC, got new friends, and I can manage my own temper because honestly, I am a temperamental person. I learnt to be an on-time person, a well-organized person, and a professional person.

P.S Semarang Youth Conference will be the next post, so stay tune!
